About Me:
BENERIKSEN is just me, Ben Eriksen. I liveaboard my 28' sailboat. I enjoy a roving lifestyle, with work I can do wherever I go.
Before I went out on my own, I worked for a fantastic little design firm called Bigbuzz, in New York. Prior to that, where I got my start in the biz, I worked at a print shop called Searles Graphics.
Besides designing and coding, I also enjoy sailing (of course), cycling, running, playing drums, listening to prog-rock and studying french.
I'm also trying my hand at film-making. We shot a movie in the summer of 2011 about our sail to Newfoundland in search of an iceberg, a simpler life, and happiness. The movie is due for release in the summer of 2012. You can find out more abot that project, One Simple Question, here!
About The Power Generation Aboard Elizabeth:
The majority of the power aboard my small boat comes from either solar or wind power. I have two 65 watt solar panel providing about 8 amps on a bright sunny day. I have one small wind turbine, which when spinning in 10 knots (12mph) of breeze also puts out about 4 amps. The combination of these two is enough to run my computer and my refrigeration - the two primary power draws. Somedays are windless and cloudy. Those days are great excuses to head to the coffee shop for a day of work, a latté, and a blueberry scone.
